FAQ About Coaching

Are there professional standards for the coaching industry?

Yes, there are codes of ethics, core competencies, accreditation processes and professional associations which promote the development and advancement of life coaches. I have earned my Professional Coach certification through the International Coaching Federation and adhere to their professional code of ethics.  I have also earned certifications in the following areas of expertise: Energy Psychology and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT “tapping”), Sleep Coaching, and Retirement Coaching. In those specialties, where I have expertise but no certifications, I have 100s of hours of professional experience. 

How do I get started with coaching?

Can I contact you in-between our scheduled coaching sessions?

Of course!  If something comes up in between our meetings that you want to discuss, you can email me, and we can have “just in time” coaching via email or arrange for an additional session.

How will I know you are the right coach for me?

In your complimentary “clarity consult session,” we will explore to see if coaching is a good fit for your needs. This session will be a true coaching session, offering you a sample of what working with me as your coach will be like. Here are the signs that we can work well together. You enjoyed the session, and you gained some insights into what is stopping you from making progress toward your goal. You feel optimistic and energized and have a clear plan about what you can do next to move forward on your goals.

What can I expect from you as my coach?

Coaching is not magic. Your success will be based on your commitment and willingness to do the work. As you do your part, here is my commitment to you

  • I will partner with you in your efforts to achieve up to your potential.
  • I will keep everything you tell me confidential.
  • I will work to expand your view of what is possible, and help you discover new insights
  • I will offer you honest feedback and serve as a sounding board for your ideas.
  • I will listen carefully to what you say and ask questions that can increase your awareness about what blocks your progress, and what energizes you.
  • I will serve as a resource for you in accomplishing your goals.

Logistics

What background information do I need to provide to get started?

Prior to our first session, I will ask you to log in and click on the Forms tab at the top of your Flourish! Portal Private Client Access page. There you find several forms that will provide me with information I need to understand how to start our work together. The first form you will receive is your Coaching Agreement. You will need to review and endorse it before we start. (Your approved form will also be available for review on this page.).

On that same page, under the Forms tab, you will find three other forms, The “Client Profile” form will provide me with background and contact information for my files. The Goals and Discovery forms are opportunities for you to reflect on your aims for your coaching, and the values that will energize your efforts.  I will ask you to complete these questionnaires prior to our initial coaching session.

I have a password that I use for most of my on-line accounts. Can I change the password I used when I registered for my coaching consult?

Yes. I will send you a log in when your register.  Once you are in the system as an active client, you can log in to your Client Profile page, click on the FORMS tab at the top of the screen, then click on the Client Profile link. The link for changing your password is at the bottom of that form.

How do I access my private client area, and how do I log in?

Once we have established a coaching agreement, you can access your private client page by clicking on the login link at the upper right corner of the Flourish! homepage. Then enter the username and password that you created when you registered. 

What if I forget or lose my password and login information?

No problem! If you forget your login, email me and I will resend it. If you know your login but forgot your password, you can still use the Login page. Enter your username and click on the “Forgot Password” button. You will receive an email shortly with your password included. If you misplaced both your username and your password, contact me via email and I will forward your information to you.

Remember that the login information is case sensitive, so enter it exactly the way you created it.  If you are unsure what that is, contact me via email and I’ll forward that information to you.

PAYING FOR YOUR COACHING SESSIONS

What if I miss a session?

If you miss a session without giving me a 24 hour notice, you will be charged for the session. If you have to miss a session and do notify me so we can reschedule your session, there will be no extra charge.

What methods can I use to pay for my coaching sessions?

I accept payments using PayPal, Visa and MasterCard credit cards. The simplest way to pay is by automatic recurring payments using your credit card. At your first session, I will collect your credit card information which is stored in a secure off-site management system with my merchant services provider. I will bill your card each month for the number of sessions that we have had that month. Your invoice will be sent on the last day of each month. Your credit card will be charged on the seventh day of the following month.

If you prefer to pay by PayPal, you can use the link on your monthly invoice. Payments will be due by the 7th day of the month following the invoice month.

PERSONAL INFORMATION AND DATA SECURITY

Is my credit card information secure?

Yes. I do not retain any credit card information on my office computer. I will bill your card directly through my merchant services provider. They comply with all federal regulations for identity and credit card data security. 

Once I enter your credit card numbers, I am unable to access them. If those numbers change for any reason, I will re enter all the new numbers without seeing the old ones. I will also be notified if your credit card is nearing its expiration date.

If your credit card information changes for any reason (it expired or you were hacked, etc.) please notify me immediately so we can correct the information in my files. My merchant services provider charges me if I submit a charge and it is refused.
